Introducing the National Hereford Show judges: Brent and Anna Fisher

Next up, we chat with husband and wife team Brent and Anna Fisher, from New Zealand, who also sit on the judging panel for the online National Hereford Show.

New Zealand-based Brent and Anna Fisher run both a hill and flat irrigated property of 2,600 acres just outside of Christchurch. Their main business is their Silverstream Hereford and Charolais stud, consisting of 70 Hereford cows and 260 Charolais cows, established by Anna's parents in 1968.

They sell over 100 bulls a year, mainly through their annual sale in June. They also finish approximately 600 steers and heifers per year.

They say: "We strive to breed Herefords suited to New Zealands hill and high country. When selecting cattle we look firstly for structural correctness and constitution. Cattle need to be functional and have the ability to look after themselves."

They are both really passionate about breeding cattle and love looking at, and working with, cattle of all breeds.

"We look for attractive cattle that stand up well and have a presence as they tend to be the cattle that breed on. We like bulls to look masculine and females feminine. We want cattle that have strong heads, females that have lovely udders and cattle that have great balance.

"We are really looking forward to judging your on line show."
